The couture shows for Spring 2023 began in Paris with a show at Schiaparelli. At the show, supermodels Shalom Harlow, Irina Shayk, and Naomi Campbell wore outfits with foam animal heads that were inspired by Dante Alighieri’s Inferno.
As for beauty, Daniel Roseberry’s trademark surreal gold-plated faces came to life with bronze-gold face and body paint, making it hard to tell the difference between real bodies and inanimate objects.
Makeup artist Pat McGrath says that Schiaparelli’s line is a seductive mix of feminine and masculine styles.
To get the look, McGrath made the models’ skin look better by mixing Divine Skin: Rose 001 Skin Fetish and the Essence: With her new Love Collection, FetishEyes: Sublime Perfection on some, and taking care of others.
Platinum Bronze eye shadow in a liquid form. She says, “The result is a mesmerizing canvas of glowing, three-dimensional, and luminous beauty.” “It makes me think of beautiful sculptures; it’s a real treat for the eyes.”
There’s also Doja Cat. McGrath and her team took the idea of a live sculpture to the front row by putting red Swarovski crystals on the singer for a “shimmering, scintillating, and subversive look.”
“Working with Doja Cat and Daniel Roseberry, who are both so talented, was a real pleasure,” says McGrath.
“Her patience and dedication as she sat with Team Pat McGrath and me for four hours and 58 minutes to make the creation. Which was covered in over 30,000 hand-applied Swarovski crystals, was truly inspiring.”
Guido Palau, a famous hairstylist who worked with McGrath, swept the hair back into chic, wet-looking updos so that it wouldn’t take attention away from the shapes of the clothes. He added touches of gold here and there for a sculptural effect.
